A special devotion began spreading throughout the world from the diary of a young Polish nun in 1930. The message is nothing new, but it reminds us that the Church has always taught through scripture and tradition: that God is merciful and forgiving and that we too must be merciful and forgive. But in the Divine Mercy devotion to this message takes a powerful approach that calls persons to a deeper understanding of the limitless love of God and the availability of this Love to all - especially those who are sinners. The message and devotion to Jesus as the Divine Mercy is based on the writings of Saint Faustina Kowalska, an uneducated Polish nun basic, in obedience to her spiritual director, wrote a diary of about 600 pages that tell the revelations she received about the Mercy God. Even before his death in 1938 it began to spread the devotion to Divine Mercy.
